Dear Amateur Radio Friends,

It would be appreciated if you could pass on the following information to all Radio Amateurs.

I would like to introduce ourselves as a group of Radio Amateur restoring Grey Point Fort, a WW1 Coastal Defence Fort located in Helens Bay, Crawfordsburn, Northern Ireland.

We would like to inform you that we will be running a special event station with the three Special Event Callsigns allocated to Grey Point Fort.

GB0GPF - GN0URN - MN0GPF

For a 48 hour special event, starting at 1700hrs UTC 31st May 2013 to 1700hrs UTC 2nd June 2013

An award certificate is available for contact with all three special event stations (sample on web site)

The Special Event is under the heading “A Moment of Remembrance” and is to;

“To honour all who left us too soon, whose lives were cut short and those who sacrificed their lives so we can enjoy the precious gift of life and security.

Every life lost is a tragedy; it is a loss to each nation and to the families who grieve.

No one can take away the sorrow that comes to the families of the fallen, we can only say that they served in a noble and necessary cause and their sacrifice has made their nations more secure.

We owe them nothing less than to remember all of them and keep their memories alive in our hearts”.

We would also like you to know that we come from all walks of life, movie stars, missionaries, doctors, students, politicians and just plain people like ourselves, but we all have one common interest - In radio communications.

We also believe that age, nationality, disability, political and ethnic barriers are non-existent in our hobby and we all strive to promote international friendship and understanding throughout the world.

We all would like to ask, if you all, would consider taking part in the event.

For details of the event please visit our web site,

With my very best wishes

Steve GI4RNP

Vice-Chairman, Grey Point Fort Amateur Radio Society
